Vilnius University OMPT requirements: programmes, scores, deadlines
Vilnius University's OMPT list is the longest anywhere: around fifty bachelor's and master's programmes across nine faculties, using every variant from A to G. The default bar is 55% and two attempts a year; the mathematics and informatics degrees want 70%.
Vilnius University publishes the longest OMPT list of any institution I know of: around fifty bachelor's and master's programmes across nine faculties, using every variant except F. The structure underneath is learnable. The default is OMPT-A at 55%, covering the business and economics degrees in the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, the Business School, the Kaunas Faculty and the Šiauliai Academy, master's programmes included. Philology sits OMPT-C at 55%. The chemistry and physics rows sit OMPT-G or OMPT-D at 60%. The Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics is the outlier at 70%: OMPT-D for the Business Data Analytics bachelor, OMPT-E for the Data Science, Software Engineering, Computer Modelling and Mathematics master's degrees.
Who has to sit it is narrower than the length of the list suggests. VU's document-requirements pages attach the OMPT to applicants with qualifications from Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan, and to nobody else by country. The exception is the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, whose programme pages require the test from all non-EU/EFTA applicants and only invite candidates to the motivational interview after a passing result. If you are applying to Business Data Analytics or Data Science from anywhere outside the EU and EFTA, assume the 70% applies to you.
Two attempts per year apply on every row, and the official PDF sets a deadline: OMPT results must be provided by 1 May, the same day the non-EU application window closes. Read your programme's row in the table below, then check it against the official PDF linked in the sources at the foot of this page, because VU refreshes the list each cycle.

Which OMPT variant Vilnius University wants, and why the letter matters
The letter assignments repay a careful look, because guessing from your field's feel is how VU applicants end up preparing for the wrong test. Most philology programmes sit the humanities-oriented C, but Multilingualism and Digital Technologies takes the B, which adds trigonometry and integration. Chemistry of Nanomaterials takes the G at 60%, and the G is the one variant with physics and chemistry chapters on top of its maths. Innovative Communication and Entrepreneurship sits the E, which swaps calculus for probability and statistics. The natural-science master's rows (Biophysics, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Neurobiology, Geology, Chemical Physics) all sit the D at 55 to 60%.
Then there is the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, where the bar is 70% and the letter changes with the level: D for the bachelor, E for the master's degrees. Seventy percent on the D means finishing about fifteen of 21 long-form problems in three hours with no partial credit. Seventy percent on the E is 70% on a 52-question paper where the second half is descriptive statistics, combinatorics, probability and distributions. Both are hard in different ways, and neither is something to walk into after a week of algebra revision. Vilnius University OMPT deadlines and how to submit the certificate
VU's PDF states the deadline plainly: OMPT results must be provided by 1 May of the application year, which for the 2026 cycle coincided with the 1 May application deadline for non-EU/EFTA applicants. EU/EFTA applicants, and non-EU applicants still inside a 90-day visa-free window, have until 1 July to apply, but the OMPT deadline is the one printed on the PDF, so plan to 1 May regardless. Standard OMPT grading takes about eight business days, which puts the last realistic sitting in mid-April. If you want a second attempt in reserve (VU allows two per year), the first sitting belongs in March.
Submission is by certificate. VU's programme pages say applicants from the listed countries must submit the OMPT certificate, which means downloading the digital certificate from omptest.org and attaching it to your application on apply.vu.lt alongside your other documents. The application fee is €100 per application and VU assesses applications within 30 working days. Nothing on VU's pages says SOWISO transmits results directly, so do not rely on that; upload it yourself. Final graduation documents follow later, by 20 August (1 July for state scholarship applicants).
What Vilnius University accepts instead of the OMPT
Nothing, as far as the official pages go. I looked for a school-grade route, an IB or A-level threshold, and an SAT line, and VU names none of them for Bangladeshi, Nepalese and Pakistani applicants. That is different from the Dutch universities, where a Boswell-Beta or CCVX certificate almost always exists as a fallback. If you hold a strong external maths qualification and would rather not sit the OMPT, email VU admissions and ask directly, but budget for the test while you wait for the reply.
Programme facts worth having before you commit: International Business is taught in English over 3.5 years at €4,350 a year for non-EU students; Business Data Analytics is €4,500 a year non-EU (€4,201 EU); the Data Science master's is €6,000 non-EU. Most programmes sit in Vilnius; the Kaunas Faculty and the Šiauliai Academy are separate campuses and the PDF lists them under their own headings. The academic year starts 1 September and there is one intake.
What to do if you fail the OMPT for Vilnius University
You have one more attempt in the year, and the calendar decides whether it is usable. A first sitting in late April leaves no room; a first sitting in March leaves about six weeks, which is enough to fix the two or three topics your score report names and sit again before mid-April. That is the argument for testing early. Read the per-topic breakdown on your certificate before you book anything else: a 50% overall with 90% on algebra and 20% on logarithms is a fortnight of logarithm drills, not a general restart.
If the second attempt also misses, the honest options are the next cycle or a different programme. A VU programme with a 55% bar on the same variant you already sat is the obvious pivot; the PDF makes it easy to find one.
