What each free OMPT mock covers

Every free set is drawn from the second half of our generation-1 paper for that variant, so it lands in the chapters that decide the score rather than the warm-up chapters. The table gives the real format, the pace the timer copies and the chapters the free questions touch.

• OMPT-A. The free OMPT-A set skips the numbers and algebra chapters on purpose: quadratics, functions and differentiation are 42% of the official score between them, and that is where OMPT-A results are decided. OMPT-A hub
• OMPT-B. OMPT-B is the widest business-track paper. Its six free questions run from quadratics to integration, the back half of a ten-chapter syllabus that strong algebra students have usually never been tested on. OMPT-B hub
• OMPT-C. OMPT-C has four chapters and the free set covers three. The missing one, numbers, is 35% of the official score, the largest single chapter weight on any variant, so drill it separately. OMPT-C hub
• OMPT-D. Two OMPT-D problems at 8.6 minutes each. The real paper grades your note field step by step; this mock grades the final answer, so keep paper beside you and mark your own method against the solution. OMPT-D hub
• OMPT-E. OMPT-E is the only variant with five statistics chapters, and the free set spends three of its four questions there. Every probability answer is a fraction; the calculator will show you a decimal that is marked down. OMPT-E hub
• OMPT-F. OMPT-F shares OMPT-D's note-field rule and its three-hour clock. Differentiation is 40% of the official score, so one of the two free problems is a differentiation problem. OMPT-F hub
• OMPT-G. OMPT-G is the one variant that is not all mathematics: mechanics and chemistry are 10% each. The free set includes a chemistry question because a maths-only preparation misses that chapter. OMPT-G hub

Three sample OMPT questions with worked answers

The OMPT has three answer styles, and each of these samples uses one of them. None of the three is in a free mock or a paid paper. A longer set is in our sample questions walkthrough.

1. Sample 1 · OMPT-A style, algebra, final answer only

   Simplify (2√3 − 1)(2√3 + 1) + (√3)³ and give the answer in exact form.

   1. The first product is a difference of two squares: (2√3)² − 1² = 4 × 3 − 1 = 11.
   2. (√3)³ = √3 × √3 × √3 = 3√3.
   3. Add: 11 + 3√3. The two terms cannot be combined, so this is the simplest form.

   Answer: 11 + 3√3

   Entry: Type 11+3sqrt(3). The usual slip is writing (√3)³ as √27 (correct but unsimplified) or as 9 (wrong). On OMPT-A the grader reads the answer field only, and 16.196 is a decimal where exact form was asked.

2. Sample 2 · OMPT-E style, probability, final answer as a fraction

   A bag holds 4 red and 6 blue marbles. Two marbles are drawn without replacement. What is the probability that both are blue?

   1. First draw: 6 blue out of 10, so 6/10.
   2. Second draw, one blue gone: 5 blue out of 9, so 5/9.
   3. Multiply: 6/10 × 5/9 = 30/90 = 1/3.

   Answer: 1/3

   Entry: Type 1/3. Drawing with replacement by mistake gives 9/25, and typing 0.333 loses the mark because a probability from a finite sample space is exact. The OMPT-E calculator shows decimals only and will not convert back.

3. Sample 3 · OMPT-D style, multi-step, final answer plus working in the note field

   f(x) = x³ − 3x² + 2. Find the coordinates of the local maximum and the local minimum of f.

   1. Differentiate: f′(x) = 3x² − 6x = 3x(x − 2), so f′(x) = 0 at x = 0 and x = 2.
   2. Classify with the second derivative: f″(x) = 6x − 6. f″(0) = −6 < 0, a maximum; f″(2) = 6 > 0, a minimum.
   3. Evaluate: f(0) = 2 and f(2) = 8 − 12 + 2 = −2.

   Answer: Local maximum (0, 2), local minimum (2, −2)

   Entry: On OMPT-D the note field has to show the derivative, its zeros and the classification; two graders score each of those steps with a rubric, so a correct final line with no working earns only part of the marks. Type the pairs as (0,2) and (2,-2).

What the real OMPT looks like

The free mocks copy the parts of the real OMPT that can be copied in a browser. These are the rules of the real sitting, from omptest.org and its knowledge base, that shape every question on this site.

• Every answer is typed into a field, not chosen from a list. An automatic engine grades first, then omptest.org’s in-house mathematicians check the paper by hand.
• Exact form is expected unless the question asks for a decimal: 23/14 rather than 1.64, 2√13 rather than 7.21. The knowledge base says a decimal where exact form is expected can lose points.
• The only calculator is the on-screen one, in three versions (one for A, B, C and F; one for D and G; one for E). It shows decimals, does not convert to fractions, and does not apply the order of operations for you.
• The pace is set by the format: 2.3 minutes a question on OMPT-A and B, 3 on E, 4 on C, 6.9 on G and 8.6 on D and F.
• There is no negative marking and no formula sheet. Special trigonometric values have to be memorised.
• OMPT-A, C and E grade the final answer only. B and G allow an optional note for partial credit. D and F require your calculations in the note field and score them step by step with a rubric.
• The result is a digital certificate by email with a score per topic. Standard grading takes eight business days; fast grading four. The topic scores are for feedback, because topics hold different numbers of exercises.

What the free OMPT mock score panel shows

When you finish, the panel gives your score out of the set, converts it to a percentage and says whether that would sit at or above the 70% mark that most programmes use as a cutoff. Under that it lists every chapter in the set, weakest first, with a worked solution under each question. Nothing is uploaded; the grading runs in your browser and resets when you sit the mock again.

Read the chapter list before the percentage. Five questions cannot place you to the percent, and two cannot at all, but a wrong answer in a chapter that carries 20% or 40% of the official score is worth more attention than the number at the top. The official certificate reports a score per topic in the same spirit, after you have paid for the sitting; the panel does it before.

The free mock is not a teaser cut to frustrate you into paying. It is a working diagnostic, and it deliberately includes harder items: if those feel manageable, a full mock will hold no surprises.

Why the free OMPT mock is a diagnostic, not a prediction

omptest.org reports that candidates who prepared with its material average 76% on a first attempt, against 40% for those who did not. The gap is the whole argument for practising, and it is also why a tenth of a paper cannot predict a result: the difference between 40 and 76 is made in the chapters you have not opened yet, not in the five questions you just answered.

What the free mock can do is name those chapters. The official certificate gives you a topic breakdown too, but only after a €240 sitting (€270 for OMPT-D and F). A free per-chapter result before you spend anything is the cheapest information in the whole process, and it is the reason every free set here is scored by chapter rather than as one number.

What to do after the free OMPT mock

All correct, or one short on a six-question set: pace is not the problem. Sit the generation-1 paper for your variant under the full clock to confirm the result holds over the whole paper, then climb the generations.

Around half correct: the chapter list is your plan. Open the drill for each chapter the panel ranks low, work it untimed until the errors stop, and come back to the mock with the timer on. The chapters with the largest official weight come first.

One or none: do not buy a mock yet. Work the algebra and quadratics drills, which every variant except OMPT-C builds on, and re-sit the free mock in a week. It is free, it resets every time, and a second sitting will tell you whether the fix took.
