Radboud University OMPT requirements: programmes, scores, deadlines

Radboud keeps one number, 55%, across the board and varies the variant per programme: D for the science bachelors, E or C for Psychology, E or D for AI, A or F for the business degrees. Results reach Radboud through the OMPT portal, and several programmes accept an SAT maths score of 600 instead.

Radboud University in Nijmegen inverts the usual pattern: instead of one variant at many different scores, it keeps one score, 55%, and varies the variant per programme, all on a single central mathematics-requirements page. Mathematics, Computing Science, Molecular Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy and the Science bachelor sit OMPT-D. Psychology takes E or C, and Radboud says the E is recommended. Artificial Intelligence takes E or D. Economics and Business Economics and International Business Administration take A or F. International Business Communication takes A, B or E. Biology is the one exception to the flat bar: 55% on the D, or on the A 65% for Dutch-degree applicants and 60% for non-Dutch.

The choice rows are worth thinking about. Several Radboud programmes accept two variants, which gives you a real decision about which syllabus to prepare. For Psychology I would follow Radboud's own recommendation and sit the E over the C: the E's statistics chapters are directly useful in the degree itself. For AI, the E is the lighter lift than the D by a wide margin. For the business degrees, the A is the shorter and more drillable of A and F.

Radboud is also generous with alternatives: Boswell-Beta and CCVX count across the science programmes, and Psychology, AI, the business degrees and IBC accept an SAT maths score of 600, which most Dutch universities refuse. At a 55% bar with those options, this is one of the most accessible OMPT policies in the Netherlands. Note that the OMPT is not accepted on the colloquium doctum (21+) route for Psychology or AI.

What 55% means on Radboud's OMPT-D, E, C, A and F

Fifty-five percent is a Dutch bare pass, but the work behind it depends on the letter. On the A it is 29 of 52 quick questions in two hours, syllabus stopping at differentiation, and four to six weeks of algebra revision for most students. On the E it is the same paper length with the second half in descriptive statistics, combinatorics, probability and distributions, so a Psychology applicant who drills only algebra walks into half a paper they never prepared. On the C it is 17 of 30 questions on algebra and a little geometry. On the D it is about twelve of 21 long-form problems in three hours, fully correct, across the widest syllabus of any variant.

The OMPT-A, OMPT-E, OMPT-C and OMPT-D pages each have the syllabus and a free timed mock. Radboud publishes no attempt cap, so the test provider's own rules apply, but a first sitting at 65% on a timed mock is still my booking threshold; the fee is the same whether you pass or not.

What Radboud accepts instead of the OMPT

Boswell-Beta (online) and CCVX certificates work everywhere, at 6.0 out of 10 in Mathematics B for the Faculty of Science programmes (Mathematics A or B for Biology) and at 5.5 for Psychology, AI, Economics and Business Economics and IBA; International Business Communication takes Boswell-Beta VWO Maths C or CCVX Maths A at 6.0. An SAT mathematics section of 600 out of 800 counts for Psychology, AI, EBE, IBA and IBC, sent through College Board under institutional code 7737; the Faculty of Science does not consider SAT or ACT at all. Psychology's diploma sheet adds AP Calculus AB, Calculus BC or Statistics at grade 3, IB Applications and Interpretation at 4 or Analysis and Approaches at 3, and A-level Mathematics at grade C. Biology's 2027-28 sheet accepts IB AA (HL or SL) or AI HL, not AI SL, and at least AS-level Mathematics.

Two validity notes: Economics and Business Economics and IBA say certificates may not be older than two years; the other programmes state no period. And on the colloquium doctum route, only CCVX, Boswell and the DUO state exam count (state exam application by 31 December), never the OMPT or SAT.

Radboud OMPT deadlines and how the result reaches the university

Radboud is one of the few universities that describes the mechanics: when you sign up for the OMPT, select Radboud University as the receiving institution, and once you take the test the results become available in Radboud's portal. Proof of attendance or registration is not sufficient, and any other certificate goes by certified paper copy to the Central Student Administration at Houtlaan 4 in Nijmegen. So there is no upload step for the OMPT, but there is a registration step you cannot skip.

The 2027-28 calendar: applications open 1 October 2026, and the Faculty of Science advises applying between 1 October and 1 November if you need a deficiency test. Psychology (numerus fixus, 600 places) closes on 15 January 2027. Non-EU/EEA applicants apply by 1 April, Dutch applicants by 1 May, EU/EEA applicants with a non-Dutch degree by 1 July (1 May to join the housing lottery). The certificate deadlines that bind the OMPT are 1 June for non-EU/EEA students, to start the visa procedure; 31 July for EU/EEA Psychology admits, extendable to 31 August on request before 31 July; and 15 August for every other programme. Admission is conditional until the certificate is verified.

Tuition, and what to do if you fail the OMPT for Radboud

Radboud already publishes 2027-28 tuition for the Faculty of Science: statutory €2,771, institutional €12,755 for EEA students and €17,701 for non-EEA students, still subject to change. Psychology is €2,771, €9,427 and €13,812 on the same scale. The Nijmegen School of Management pages for EBE and IBA still show 2026-27: €2,694, €9,578 and €13,793. Biology is no longer numerus fixus; Psychology allows two applications to the programme in total.

With no published cap, a failed first sitting costs you a fee and some calendar. Read the per-topic breakdown, fix the named chapters, and rebook when a timed mock clears 65% and the grading lands before your certificate deadline. Where a programme offers two variants, a switch is legitimate: a Psychology applicant who lost the C on geometry can sit the E instead. If the OMPT route is exhausted, Boswell-Beta and CCVX remain open, and on several programmes an SAT maths section of 600 does the same job. The retake guide covers the planning.
