How Much Does the OMPT Cost? 2026/27 Fees in Full

Money questions reach me in two shapes. A parent wants one number for the family budget. A student who has already paid €240 and scored 58% against a 75% bar wants to know whether a second attempt, the official bundle or a tutor is the cheaper route to a certificate. Both get the same answer: the sticker price is fixed and public, the total depends almost entirely on how many attempts you buy, and that number is the one variable you control. The list below is the pricing page as it read on 21 September 2026. Prices belong to a class year running 1 October to 30 September, so re-check before you pay.

The official OMPT price list for 2026/27

Two tiers, then. The D and F cost €30 more per attempt and €20 more per mock because they require a written note of your calculations with every answer, and OMPT says two graders read each D and F test. The pricing page adds a warning for those two: the practice material covers foundational knowledge while the final exam tests analysis and application, so the €95 material on its own will not show you what a D question looks like. The official €110 mock does, and so does a free timed D mock.

The bundle saving is real but small. Bought separately, an A attempt, practice material and mock come to €425 against a €385 bundle, so you save €40; for D and F it is €475 against €435, again €40. The fast bundle saves €30 or €26 on top. Those are my sums on the published figures. What the bundle does not hold is a second attempt; fail, and the retake is another €240 or €270.

How much is OMPT fast grading and when €120 is worth it

Standard results arrive by email within 8 business days counted from the day after you submit; business days exclude weekends and Dutch public holidays. OMPT's own example: a test sat on Monday with no holidays is graded by Thursday of the following week. Fast grading is €120 per test attempt or €70 per mock and promises results within 4 business days, so the same Monday test comes back on Friday of the same week, six calendar days sooner. It is applied automatically one hour after submission (the confirmation screen still shows the normal time), and you can buy it after you have already sat the test, so you can sleep on it and buy speed the next morning if a deadline email arrives.

My rule for the €120: if the gap between your test date and the university deadline is under 14 calendar days, buy it, because a week of slack is the difference between a certificate in the portal and an email begging admissions for an extension. With three weeks or more, keep the €120 as a retake reserve. The €70 mock version is almost never worth it; a plan that cannot absorb an eight-day wait for a diagnostic is already too tight. The OMPT fees that are not on the pricing page

The admin fee has a procedure attached, and the help centre says not to buy it unless support tells you to. For a reschedule: cancel the appointment inside ProctorU, buy the Admin Fee product, then email support with your account email, the test name and a screenshot of the purchase. Processing takes up to two business days, so a request sent on Thursday afternoon may not be actioned before the weekend. Expired products cannot be rescheduled at any price.

ProctorU's fees catch people because they are in dollars and sit on a different website; students on Reddit describe being charged for a short-notice slot and being annoyed nobody warned them. Book more than 72 hours ahead and you pay nothing extra. Mechanics are in the 72-hour post.

What passing the OMPT really costs: seven budgets

The fee is the small part. The multiplier is the expensive part, and it is set by one decision: when you sit the first attempt. The standard failure runs like this. A student books early "for motivation" and sits at a mock level of about 60% against a 75% cutoff. After the fail comes the preparation they were always going to need, and the first €240 has bought a diagnostic that a free mock gives away. Omptest.org publishes its own version of this: applicants who worked through its learning material averaged 76% on a first attempt, against 40% for those who did not. I read that less as an advert for the €95 and more as evidence that unprepared first attempts fail, whatever you prepared with.

For some programmes the multiplier is capped at one by rule, and the cost of failing is the place rather than €240. Erasmus School of Economics counts only the first attempt for IBEB and IBEOR; the University of Amsterdam allows a single attempt for Business Administration, Economics and Business Economics and Fiscale Economie. Many others cap at two, including every VU programme, RSM IBA and all of LUT. The full list is on omptest.org/exceptions and the cutoffs on the universities page. If your programme is there, price the first attempt as if it were the only one.

How to keep the OMPT to one paid attempt

1. Confirm the variant and minimum score on the programme page, and the attempt cap on omptest.org/exceptions, before buying anything.
2. Sit a free timed mock for that letter on day one, under test conditions, with the on-screen calculator only. Do not buy an attempt yet; this is the €240 you are saving.
3. Put the mock score into the score estimator and the deadline into the study planner. If the gap to your cutoff is over 25 points with under four weeks left, decide now whether the bundle or a few tutoring hours is cheaper than a probable second attempt.
4. Drill the two weakest chapters by score, not the two you like. On the A that is usually logarithms and differentiation.
5. Buy the attempt only when two consecutive timed mocks sit ten points above your cutoff: 85% for a 75% bar, 70% for a 60% bar. Add five more on the D and F, where the real test is harder than the practice material.
6. Book more than 72 hours ahead, and more than 8 business days plus one repair week before the deadline, so a second sitting still fits without fast grading.
7. Run the ProctorU equipment test the day before and clear the room to the rules. A setup failure before the start costs a €50 reschedule; a violation during the test costs a whole new attempt.
8. Leave the retake money untouched until the certificate arrives.

OMPT refund and cancellation rules

Purchased OMPT products are not refundable, and you consent to that at checkout. The refund policy, last updated in December 2022, allows a full or partial refund to be considered in two situations only: incorrect or contradictory instructions from your admissions office, and technical errors clearly the fault of OMPT or ProctorU. It then names what is not refunded: connectivity problems on your side, a missed application deadline, illness in the family, or a switch to a university that does not require the OMPT. A refund form exists, and it expects evidence such as emails and screenshots.

That first exception is more useful than it looks. If an admissions officer told you in writing to take the B and the programme page says A, keep the email; it is the one document that turns a wasted €240 into a refund request with a chance. The second covers a proctor who cannot start your session or a platform outage, evidenced by screenshots with timestamps.

Cancelling and rescheduling are not refunds; they cost €50 through the admin fee route above. Two further rules sit beside them. A product can be exchanged for one of the same or lower price for €50, with any difference payable if the new one is dearer. A product can be transferred to the next class year for €50, but only if it was bought between July and October 2026; a practice course bought in March and never used expires on 30 September with no way back. If your connection drops mid-test, the policy says connectivity on your side is not refunded, but the admin fee list does cover retakes after an internet problem, so file a support request with proof before assuming you must pay €240 again. Is there a student discount for the OMPT, and who pays less anyway

No. The help centre answer is one sentence: OMPT does not offer any discounts at the moment. No early-bird rate, no reduction for a second attempt, no hardship tariff for individuals. Both routes to paying less run through the university rather than the student.

The first is an institution covering the fee. OMPT says it is open to alternative pricing with institutions that want to help applicants with costs, and its Amsterdam University College case study says AUC covered its applicants' costs for one academic year. A single documented example, not a policy, but reason enough to ask your admissions office one direct question before you pay: does the programme cover or reimburse the OMPT fee?

The second is the Maastricht rule, a restriction as much as a saving. Applicants to Maastricht University's School of Business and Economics cannot buy the official OMPT practice material, and therefore not the bundle either. They are pointed to the Maastricht Math Summer Course on the same SOWISO platform, which the university's maths page prices at €35 to €40 and sizes at 60 to 100 hours. The same page puts the exam at about €240, the benchmark at 75% on the OMPT-A with an individual review possible at 70 to 74%, allows three attempts, and advises sitting only after a progress score of at least 95% in the course or 80% on its trial tests. So a Maastricht SBE applicant's realistic budget is about €280 for course plus one attempt, against €385 for a bundle elsewhere; details are on the Maastricht page and in the Maastricht post. The only other concession I know of is a Preply partnership giving 50% off a first tutoring lesson, which is a discount on a lesson, not on the test.

On CCVX and Boswell-Beta I have not verified current fees, so no number goes beside them here. The structural difference is that the OMPT is the only fully online option, so for an applicant outside the Netherlands the comparison is really a travel comparison, and a flight plus a night in Utrecht usually exceeds the €240 fee on its own. What to do if the money side goes wrong

If your card payment fails, try PayPal, and if both fail ask support for bank transfer details, which they provide on request. Do not open a second account to retry; OMPT treats multiple accounts as fraud and mentions a one-year ban. Should you need an invoice for a sponsor or an employer, ask support before paying rather than after; I have not seen an invoice option described on the pricing page, and bank transfer is the route most likely to produce paperwork with a company name on it.

If you failed and cannot afford a retake right now, check three things in order. The attempt cap first: where a programme allows one attempt, a second purchase buys nothing and the conversation is with admissions, not the store. Then the class year: products expire on 30 September and attempts refresh in October, so a retake for a deferred application is bought next year. Then the gap: put the per-topic scores from your certificate into the score estimator and drill only the chapters under 50%, so that no point is paid for twice.

Bought the wrong variant? Exchange it before scheduling: same or lower price for €50, difference payable if higher. Deadline moved closer after you sat the test? Buy fast grading; it works after submission. Applying for the following year? The €50 class transfer exists only for products bought between July and October 2026, so the cheaper move is to not buy the attempt until the class year you will sit it in.

Two students, two OMPT budgets

Student one is applying to International Business at Maastricht: the A at a 75% bar, three attempts, exam by 15 August. She has eight weeks and a free timed mock of 62%. Because she cannot buy the official practice material, her paid options are the €35 to €40 summer course or nothing. She takes the course, drills quadratics and logarithms here, and sits a timed mock every Sunday: 68, 74, 79, 84, 87. In week six, with two mocks above 85%, one attempt is bought for €240 and booked for 24 July. Result 81%. Total spend about €280, and the €240 retake reserve goes back into the housing deposit.

Student two is applying to Computer Science at Leiden: the D at 60%, six weeks out, a 35% diagnostic. The gap is 25 points on the hardest variant, so he buys the €435 bundle for the practice material and the human-graded mock. At week four the official mock comes back at 55%. Sitting immediately, the way he wants to, gives a real attempt around 50%, a fail, then a €270 retake plus €120 fast grading because the deadline no longer allows eight business days: €825. Postponing one week, drilling integration and geometry to lift the mock to 68%, then sitting at week five gives one attempt with a margin: €435. Same student, same maths, €390 apart, and the only difference is one week of patience. He waited.
