Leuven / Limburg · Belgium
UCLL treats OMPT-A at 60% as a stand-in for the SAT on its general admission route for professional bachelors, for applicants from a list of sixteen countries rather than for any one programme.
UCLL, University Colleges Leuven-Limburg, uses the OMPT differently from every research university on this list. It is not a per-programme maths gate; it is an entry route. Applicants with a school diploma from sixteen listed countries normally submit a SAT score with their application to a professional bachelor. UCLL accepts an OMPT-A result at 60% in that slot instead.
The 2026-27 list is Bangladesh, Benin, Bolivia, Burundi, Cambodia, Chile, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, the United Arab Emirates, Venezuela and Zambia. Kenya and Lebanon, which older advice sometimes names, currently carry no SAT or OMPT requirement on UCLL's page. UCLL also reserves the right to ask any applicant for a standardised test, and says it will reach out if that is needed.
For most applicants the OMPT is the easier of the two options to arrange. The SAT runs on fixed international test dates at physical centres, some a long trip away; the OMPT is proctored online and bookable with 72 hours' notice. Sixty percent on OMPT-A is also a gentler ask than the SAT benchmark: the syllabus stops at differentiation, and the pass margin is forgiving if your algebra is solid.

Sixty percent on the A is 32 of 52 questions right in two hours, on a syllabus of numbers, algebra, functions, exponentials, logarithms and basic differentiation. The OMPT gives no partial credit, so the skill is finishing questions cleanly rather than knowing methods, and the common failure at this level is rust on fractions, exponents and rearranging formulas at speed. Four to six weeks of steady revision is enough for most students who were ever comfortable with school algebra.
The OMPT-A page has the chapter list, a four-week plan and a free timed mock. My booking rule for a 60% bar is 70% on the mock, because the real sitting is a worse environment than your desk: on camera, in an unfamiliar interface, with the clock visible. The proctoring note makes the webcam routine boring before it matters.
The SAT is the default the OMPT replaces: UCLL asks for a score above the College Board benchmark for college readiness and prints no number of its own. Applicants from Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia and Sierra Leone can instead offer a related Higher National Diploma. Some countries on UCLL's wider list use their own national entrance exam rather than either test, so the country entry on the admissions page is the authority, and UCLL says the list is refreshed around the start of the application season between December and February.
Because this is a general admission route rather than a programme rule, an early email to UCLL admissions confirming that your nationality and chosen bachelor fall under it is worth more than any amount of preparation. UCLL's English-taught professional bachelors (Applied Computer Science and International Business Management among them) run on the Leuven and Limburg campuses, with no numerus fixus.
Three application deadlines apply for 2026-27: 1 April, with a grace period to 1 May, for non-EEA citizens who need a study visa for Belgium; 15 June for EEA citizens applying to the marketing track of International Business Management across Europe; and 31 August for everyone else. UCLL publishes no separate test deadline, so the OMPT result belongs in your file by whichever of those dates applies to you. Documents (diploma, transcript, language test, proof of fee payment) are uploaded with the online application, and the OMPT certificate goes in the same way.
UCLL says it does not accept test results older than two years; the sentence sits in its language-test block, so assume it covers the OMPT and confirm. Tuition for 2026-27 on the professional bachelors is €305.40 plus €14.60 per credit for EEA students (€1,181.40 for 60 credits) and €2,000 plus €110 per credit for non-EEA students (€8,600 for 60 credits).
UCLL publishes no attempt cap, so the test provider's rules apply (generally up to three attempts, each a fresh fee) and your application deadline is the constraint. A non-EEA applicant working to 1 April has time for a retake only if the first sitting was in February; read the per-topic breakdown, fix the named chapters, and rebook when a timed mock clears 70%.
If the calendar has closed, the SAT remains the other door on the same route, and a strong result there serves the same purpose. The retake guide covers how to plan the second sitting, and the cost note sets out what a second attempt actually costs before you decide between the two tests.
Instead of the OMPT
SAT
Score above the College Board benchmark for college readiness; UCLL prints no numeric threshold.
Higher National Diploma
Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia and Sierra Leone: a related HND can replace the diploma-plus-test combination.
National entrance exam
Some countries use their own exam instead (Azerbaijan, for instance, 350 out of 700); the country list on the admissions page is the authority.
Calendar
1 April (grace to 1 May) · Application deadline, non-EEA citizens needing a study visa
Have the OMPT-A result ready by this date; UCLL publishes no separate test deadline.
15 June · EEA applicants, International Business Management (marketing track across Europe)
31 August · All other applicants
The country list is refreshed around the start of the application season (December to February); re-check it then.
Prepare
Once you know your programme row, the next step is a timed mock of the exact variant it names. UCLL (University Colleges Leuven-Limburg) uses one variant, so pick carefully.
Quick answers
OMPT-A at 60%, accepted in place of the SAT on the general admission route for professional bachelors, for applicants from sixteen listed countries rather than for any single programme.
For 2026-27: Bangladesh, Benin, Bolivia, Burundi, Cambodia, Chile, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, the United Arab Emirates, Venezuela and Zambia. The list is refreshed each application season.
Usually, yes. The OMPT is taken online under proctoring and can be booked with 72 hours' notice, while the SAT runs on fixed dates at physical test centres. The 60% bar is manageable with solid algebra.
There is no separate test deadline. Have the result in your application by 1 April (grace period to 1 May) if you need a study visa, or by 31 August otherwise.
UCLL says it does not accept test results older than two years. The sentence sits in its language-test section, so confirm with admissions that it covers the OMPT.
