Erasmus University Rotterdam OMPT requirements: programmes, scores, deadlines

Rotterdam is unforgiving: the Erasmus School of Economics reads only your first attempt, and its econometrics bachelor wants over 75% on OMPT-D. Rotterdam School of Management allows two attempts at 75% on OMPT-A or F (65% on B or D), due by 15 March and valid two years. EUR's central deficiency page adds OMPT-E for Health Sciences, Psychology and others.

Erasmus University Rotterdam is the strictest OMPT environment on this list, and the strictness is about attempts, not just scores. The Erasmus School of Economics reads only your first attempt and says in so many words that it does not accept re-sits. For the International Bachelor Economics and Business Economics that first attempt must land at 70% on OMPT-A or 60% on OMPT-B; for the International Bachelor Econometrics and Operations Research, and the BSc² double bachelor in Econometrics and Economics, it must clear 75% on OMPT-D, the toughest published score-and-variant combination anywhere in this table.

Rotterdam School of Management is kinder and more detailed. Its International Business Administration wants 75% on OMPT-A or OMPT-F, or 65% on OMPT-B or OMPT-D per its Teaching and Examination Regulations, counts two attempts per admissions year, requires the result to be no older than two years, and wants it uploaded in the Online Application Form by 15 March. SAT, ACT and GMAT are explicitly refused as replacements for the maths exam at both schools.

EUR's central mathematics-deficiency page widens the picture: Bedrijfskunde (the Dutch RSM bachelor) at OMPT 70%, Health Sciences and Health Policy and Management at OMPT-E 55%, and Psychology, Pedagogical Sciences and Sociology on OMPT-E with no percentage printed. The same page adds a line to keep in view everywhere at EUR: passing a deficiency test does not entitle you to automatic admission.

How a first-attempt-only rule changes your OMPT preparation for ESE

A first-attempt-only rule rewrites your whole preparation plan. There is no diagnostic sitting, no warm-up, no learning the interface on a throwaway attempt. Everything you would normally discover on attempt one has to come from timed practice mocks instead, and you book the real test only when a full mock puts you comfortably past the bar, ten points or more. ESE's own support desk adds a second rule: if your diploma type is not listed, do not book or take any exam until ESE has told you which one you need, because the wrong test wastes your only attempt.

For IBEB the choice between A at 70% and B at 60% is real. The A is 52 questions in two hours with the syllabus stopping at differentiation; 70% is at most fifteen wrong. The B is 64 questions in 150 minutes with trigonometry and integration added; 60% is 39 right. For most applicants the A is the safer single shot, because the extra chapters on the B are where one-attempt candidates leak points. For econometrics there is no choice: above 75% on the D means at least sixteen of 21 long-form problems fully correct in three hours, and the OMPT-D survival guide is where to start. What Erasmus University Rotterdam accepts instead of the OMPT

The Dutch certificate routes exist at both schools if the OMPT's single-shot pressure is not for you. IBEB accepts a VWO deelcertificaat (state exam), Boswell-Beta or CCVX at Wiskunde A 7.0 or Wiskunde B 6.0; Econometrics accepts the same three in Wiskunde B. RSM's IBA accepts Boswell-Beta, CCVX or the Korteweg-de Vries Institute at VWO Maths A 6.5 (the web page) or 7.0 (the TER and the support desk) and Maths B 6.0, with two attempts and the same two-year validity. Note the timing: Boswell-Beta and CCVX registration runs in October and November and the state exams sit in spring and summer, so registering in your application year is too late. Erasmus offers no maths courses of its own and points to Boswell-Beta in Utrecht.

At diploma level, IBEB takes IB Analysis and Approaches HL at 4, AA SL at 5 or Applications and Interpretation HL at 5 (AI SL means a certificate is needed), three A-levels at A* to C, or four APs with Calculus AB or BC at 4. Econometrics takes IB AA HL at 5 (AA SL at 6 may sit the entrance exam; AI is not eligible), A-levels at A* to C, or AP Calculus at 4. RSM's per-diploma page for IBA is under review for 2027 and does not currently print IB, A-level or AP lines.

Erasmus Rotterdam OMPT deadlines and how to submit the result

Three different calendars. IBEB is numerus fixus with 700 places (half ranked on grades and curriculum activity, half by lottery) and closes on 15 January for all nationalities, through Studielink and the EUR Admission Portal, with the maths certificate included in the application by that date; the ranking comes on 15 April and certified copies are due by 1 August. Econometrics has rolling admission and is already on the 2027-28 cycle: applications open 1 November 2026, non-EU applicants apply by 1 April 2027 and EU applicants by 1 May 2027, the maths result must be available before 1 May, and non-Dutch diplomas pay a €100 handling fee.

RSM's IBA is numerus fixus with 750 places (75% grades, 25% motivation): Studielink by 15 January, all documents in OLAF by 31 January, and maths and English test results by 15 March, with the outcome on 15 April. RSM says results after 15 March are not accepted, that it can take up to eight working days to receive an OMPT result, and that missing the required maths line lowers your ranking rather than ending the application. Register at omptest.org selecting Erasmus University Rotterdam and, for RSM, International Business Administration (Rotterdam School of Management), then upload the certificate in OLAF. ESE's certificate goes into the Admission Portal application.

Tuition, and what to do if you fail the OMPT for Erasmus Rotterdam

Statutory tuition for 2026-27 is €2,694. ESE's institutional fees are €8,300 for EEA students on a second degree and €13,500 for non-EEA students; RSM's are €8,300 and €14,000. All three international bachelors are English-taught, 180 EC, three-year programmes on Campus Woudestein.

At ESE there is no second OMPT attempt, so a fail means the certificate routes: Boswell-Beta, CCVX or the state exam in the relevant Wiskunde, on their own calendars, and for a 15 January IBEB deadline that usually means the following cycle. At RSM the second attempt is your last, so read the per-topic breakdown, fix the named chapters, and rebook only when a timed mock clears 85% and the grading will land before 15 March; if it will not, the IBA still ranks you, just lower. Which OMPT does Erasmus University Rotterdam require?
