Amsterdam University College OMPT requirements: programmes, scores, deadlines
One degree, three majors, three different OMPT variants: B or G for Sciences, E for Social Sciences, C for Humanities, all at 70% and all due by 1 July for a September start. Results are valid two years; OMPT-A no longer counts for Social Sciences.
Amsterdam University College runs one degree, Liberal Arts and Sciences, but the OMPT you sit depends entirely on your intended major. Sciences majors take OMPT-B, or OMPT-G as an accepted alternative; Social Sciences majors take OMPT-E; Humanities majors take OMPT-C. The bar is a uniform 70% across all three, which is high: on the C's 30 questions, that is at most nine wrong. AUC calls the test mandatory for anyone whose school maths programme is not on its per-major exemption list, and says applications are likely to be rejected where the maths deficiency is significant.
AUC itself recommends the B over the G for calculus-heavy tracks, and I agree: the G spends part of its 26 questions on physics and chemistry, which is prep effort the maths-only B does not demand. Social Sciences applicants should note a change that has now fully taken effect: OMPT-A used to count for that track until September 2025, and only results taken before then, and still within their two-year validity, can be used. Older forum advice pointing you at the A is wrong for a 2027 start.
The deadline matters here more than at most universities. OMPT results are due by 1 July 2027 for a September 2027 start, and standard grading takes about eight business days. Working backwards, your final realistic sitting is mid-June, and if you want room for a retake, book your first attempt by May. Results in before 1 December or 1 February get priority in the early-bird and regular application rounds.

What 70% means on OMPT-B, OMPT-E and OMPT-C
Same number, three different tasks. The B is 64 questions in 150 minutes across algebra, functions, trigonometry, differentiation and integration; 70% means 45 right, and the is OMPT-B harder than A note sets out what the extra chapters cost. The E is algebra plus descriptive statistics, combinatorics, probability and distributions, chapters many school tracks barely touch, so a Social Sciences applicant should budget a fortnight for probability specifically. The C is the shortest syllabus of the seven, four chapters of algebra and geometry in 30 questions, and its danger is the small denominator: each wrong answer costs more than three percent.
The OMPT-B, OMPT-E and OMPT-C pages each have the syllabus and a free timed mock. My booking rule for a 70% bar with an unknown attempt cap (AUC does not publish one) is 80% on a timed mock first.
What AUC accepts instead of the OMPT
AUC publishes exemption thresholds per major. Sciences: VWO Wiskunde B at 7, GCE A-level B or AS A, IB Analysis and Approaches HL 5 or SL 6 or Applications and Interpretation HL 6, European Baccalaureate 5-period 8, AP Calculus AB 3, Abitur 11. Social Sciences: VWO Wiskunde A at 7, AS A or A-level C, IB AI HL 6, AA SL 5 or AA HL 4, EB 5-period 7 or 3-period 8, AP Statistics 3, Abitur 10 (final) or 12. Humanities: VWO Wiskunde C at 7, GCSE A, IB AA SL 4, AI HL 4, AI SL 7 or Mathematical Studies 7, EB 7, Abitur 8 (final) or 10, and SAT 600. French, Irish, Italian and Spanish qualifications have their own lines on AUC's foldouts.
Boswell-Beta, CCVX, KdVI and the ACT are not listed. AUC asks applicants who want to fill the deficiency another way to check with the admissions office well in advance, so ask before assuming any unlisted certificate counts.
AUC OMPT deadlines and how to submit the result
Applications for September 2027 open on 1 October 2026. The early-bird deadline is 1 December 2026 (decision before 10 February 2027), the regular deadline is 1 February 2027 (decision before 10 April 2027), and a late deadline of 1 May 2027 exists only if AUC opens one. There is no EU/non-EU split. Applications are reviewed without an OMPT result, but any offer is conditional until the maths requirement is met.
OMPT results are due by 1 July 2027 and are included in your application, which runs through Studielink and then the University of Amsterdam's SIS portal; AUC gives no separate upload instruction, so attach the certificate there and confirm receipt with admissions. Register at omptest.org with Amsterdam University College selected. Note that the test provider's own AUC page still shows older figures (75%, OMPT-A) and is out of date against AUC's 70% and OMPT-E rule; trust auc.nl.
Fees, and what to do if you fail the OMPT for AUC
For students starting in 2026-27 the statutory fee is €5,580 and the non-EU/EEA fee is €20,430; 2027-28 figures were not yet published when this page was checked. AUC is selective on a GPA of 7.0 or higher, and every initial offer is conditional.
AUC publishes no attempt cap, so the OMPT's own rules apply (generally up to three attempts, each a fresh fee) and 1 July is the wall. A first sitting in April or May leaves room for a second; a first sitting in late June does not. Read the per-topic breakdown, fix the named chapters and rebook when a timed mock clears 80%. If the date has passed, the only routes left are the school qualifications above, which most applicants cannot add in a summer; the honest option is then the next intake.
