Generation 3 is one rung below the sitting. The chapter quota is the same, but the questions chain three or four steps and the coverage tightens toward the material that decides OMPT-G scores. Expect fewer single-operation items and more that start in one chapter and finish in another.
Sit it two to three weeks before your booked test, with the full 180 minutes and no pauses. If a chapter still leaks here, there is time for a drill cycle before generation 4. The chapter ranking after this paper is the most reliable prediction of where the real paper will cost you.
All four OMPT-G generations share the same chapter quota, including the two science chapters. The generations differ in how many steps a question needs: a generation-1 chemistry item balances one equation, a generation-4 item balances a redox half-reaction and asks for the pH that follows.

OMPT-G grades the answer field first and reads the optional note only for partial credit. Physics and chemistry answers use the same exact-form rules as the maths, with the unit implied by the question.

OMPT-G example 1 · Chemistry
Balance the equation Al + O₂ → Al₂O₃. Give the three coefficients in order.
Answer: 4, 3, 2
Entry: Enter 4,3,2. Changing a subscript (writing AlO₃) to make the count work is the classic error; only coefficients may change when balancing.
OMPT-G example 2 · Geometric calculations
A circle has equation x² + y² − 6x + 4y − 3 = 0. Find its centre and radius.
Answer: centre (3, −2), radius 4
Entry: Type (3,-2) and 4. Reading the centre as (−3, 2) from the signs in the equation is the usual slip; the centre has the opposite signs to the linear terms.
OMPT-G example 3 · Physics: mechanics
A 2 kg object speeds up from 3 m/s to 7 m/s. How much work was done on it?
Answer: 40 J
Entry: Type 40. Squaring the difference of the speeds, ½ × 2 × 4² = 16, is the error to watch for; the theorem uses the difference of the squares.

The OMPT-G paper is graded instantly on the typed answer in exact form, with units the question asked for stripped by the normaliser (20 and 20m both pass). The real OMPT-G is checked by software and then by omptest.org's graders within eight business days, with partial credit possible from a note.
