University of Groningen: OMPT requirements by programme

Groningen splits by faculty: Economics and Business asks for OMPT-A or B, while Science and Engineering runs a faculty-wide OMPT-D route.

The University of Groningen splits its OMPT policy cleanly down faculty lines. The Faculty of Economics and Business takes OMPT-A at 60% for Business Administration, International Business, and Economics and Business Economics, and OMPT-B at the same 60% for Econometrics and Operations Research. The Faculty of Science and Engineering runs a different arrangement altogether: a faculty-wide OMPT-D route at 65%, published at the admission-route level (the Colloquium Doctum 21+ and Preparatory Year routes) rather than per programme, and capped at two attempts.

Groningen's 60% business bar is one of the friendlier ones among Dutch research universities — Maastricht and Utrecht want 75% for comparable degrees. The alternatives are broad too: James Boswell VWO Wiskunde A, CCVX Maths A or B, or FEB's own Mathematics Entrance Exam all count on the business side, with an extended version of that entrance exam covering econometrics.

If you are on the science route, respect the D. It is 21 long-form questions over three hours and the widest syllabus of any variant, and with only two attempts counted, a cold first sitting is a real risk. Run a full timed mock before booking.
