University of Antwerp OMPT requirements: programmes, scores, deadlines

Antwerp uses OMPT-A on one programme, the Bachelor of Social-Economic Sciences, and only for applicants holding a non-EEA degree. The bar is 75%, an exemption is never granted, and the result must be uploaded before the Objective 1 screening deadline (28 February 2027 for non-EEA applicants).

The University of Antwerp keeps its OMPT use narrow: one programme, the Bachelor of Social-Economic Sciences, and one audience, candidates with a non-EEA degree. For them the maths proficiency test is compulsory on top of the standard requirements, and the admission page says an exemption is never possible. The number to clear is 75% on OMPT-A, the same bar KU Leuven's business school and several Dutch universities use, and comfortably above the OMPT-A scores most other programmes ask for.

Antwerp does leave the door open to alternatives, which is unusual in Belgium: SAT Math at 640, ACT Math at 27, or AP Calculus AB at grade 4 or better all count in place of the OMPT. If you already sat one of those in school, check your score before paying the OMPT's €240 fee. If you did not, the OMPT-A is usually the faster route, because you can book it year-round rather than waiting for an SAT sitting.

The timing is fixed by Antwerp's two-stage procedure. Test results must be uploaded in the Mobility-Online portal before the Objective 1 screening deadline: 28 February 2027 for non-EEA applicants and 31 May 2027 for EEA and Swiss applicants, with the 2027-28 application opening on 4 November 2026.

What 75% on OMPT-A means for Antwerp applicants

The A's syllabus runs from numbers and algebra up to differentiation: 52 questions in two hours, no trigonometry, no integrals. At a 75% bar you can miss thirteen questions, the marking gives no partial credit, and the pace is under two and a half minutes a question. The routine algebra chapters have to be near-automatic; that is where the margin comes from, not the calculus at the end. Because Antwerp publishes no attempt cap, the OMPT's own rules apply (generally up to three attempts, each a fresh fee), but the February deadline leaves little room for a second sitting if the first one is late. My booking rule is a timed mock at 85% before the real thing; the passing scores note explains why a ten-point cushion matters at this level.

What the University of Antwerp accepts instead of the OMPT

Three alternatives, all American: SAT with 640 on the mathematics section, ACT with 27 on the mathematics section, or AP Calculus AB at grade 4. The admission page carries a bracketed note that the test of 14 March 2026 is exceptionally still accepted, which reads as a one-off concession for a specific sitting; ask admissions if it applies to you. Nothing else is listed. The page distinguishes only EEA from non-EEA degrees, so VWO, IB, A-level, CCVX and Boswell-Beta do not appear; an EEA degree holder is simply not asked for the test.

Programme facts from the same pages: the Bachelor of Social-Economic Sciences is taught in English over three years and 180 ECTS in Antwerp, with four majors from the second year, and its entry page says proficiency in mathematics is recommended. Tuition for 2026-27 is €305.40 plus €14.60 per credit for EEA students (€1,181.40 for a 60-credit year) and €1,000 plus €55 per credit at the increased non-EEA rate (€4,300 for 60 credits). Antwerp OMPT deadlines and how to submit the certificate

Antwerp runs admission in two objectives. Objective 1 is the screening on content and level, and the maths test results must be uploaded before its deadline: 28 February 2027 for non-EEA applicants, 31 May 2027 for EEA and Swiss applicants. Objective 2 is document authentication, due 31 May 2027 (non-EEA) or 30 June 2027 (EEA and Swiss). The application opens on 4 November 2026 and is free of charge.

Submission is electronic: documents go into the Mobility-Online application portal, the OMPT certificate with them. Register at omptest.org with the University of Antwerp selected. Working back from 28 February with about eight business days of grading, sit the test by mid-February at the latest; if you want a second attempt in hand, sit the first in January. Antwerp states no validity period for the maths tests (only language certificates carry a two-year rule), so treat the current cycle as the safe assumption.

What to do if you fail the OMPT for the University of Antwerp

There is no exemption and no lower band, so a 72% is a fail here, unlike at Maastricht where scores from 70 to 74% get a review. Read the per-topic breakdown on your certificate before you rebook: at 75%, most misses are leaked points on routine algebra under time pressure rather than missing content, and the common algebra mistakes note lists the usual culprits. Rebook only when a timed mock clears 85%, and only if the result will be graded before 28 February.

If the calendar has run out, the alternatives are your fallback. A SAT sitting in the spring can still land before the EEA deadline but not the non-EEA one, so non-EEA applicants who miss the OMPT in February are usually looking at the next cycle.
