University of Amsterdam OMPT requirements: programmes, scores, deadlines
UvA spreads three variants across its bachelors: OMPT-A at 70% for Psychology and PPLE, OMPT-F at 60% with a single attempt for the business and economics tracks, and OMPT-D at 70% with two attempts for Business Analytics, Econometrics and Data Science and Actuarial Science. The certificate deadlines are early: 1 April 2027 for Psychology, before the application deadline for the OMPT-D programmes.
The University of Amsterdam has the widest OMPT spread of any Dutch university, and its attempt caps are the trap to watch. Psychology and the PPLE college both want OMPT-A at 70%. Business Administration, Economics and Business Economics and Computational Social Science take OMPT-F at 60%, with one attempt only, a rule that turns a casual first sitting into a serious mistake. The quantitative tracks, Business Analytics, Econometrics and Data Science and Actuarial Science, want 70% on OMPT-D with two attempts, and UvA quotes the cost from €250 a sitting.
The OMPT-D rule is also the strictest on timing: UvA says to take the test before the application deadline, and that applications without a sufficient score, or with a test date after the deadline, will not be accepted. It is a mandatory extra test for certain diploma types (UvA's diploma finder says which), and it does not repair missing final-exam maths; confirm your own diploma's position with admissions before spending anything.
One correction to older advice: Actuarial Science's OMPT-F route. UvA's shared certificate-courses page lists the OMPT-F only under the Business Administration and EBE (Mathematics A) heading; under the Mathematics B heading for Actuarial Science, Econometrics and Data Science and Business Analytics it lists only CCVX Mathematics B or the VWO State Exam, and says it does not accept KdVI or Boswell Mathematics B. So for Actuarial Science, plan on the D.

Which OMPT variant UvA wants, and why the attempt cap decides your preparation
The F at 60% with a single attempt is the row that needs the most respect. The F is OMPT-A material (algebra through differentiation, no trigonometry, no integrals) delivered as 21 long-form problems in three hours, and 60% means fully finishing about thirteen with no partial credit. There is no diagnostic sitting, no learning the interface on a throwaway attempt; everything you would normally discover on attempt one has to come from timed mocks. The OMPT-F page has the format and a free timed mock; do not book until a full mock clears 70%.
The D at 70% with two attempts is a harder paper with a little more room: 21 questions over three hours across the widest syllabus, geometry and integration included, and 70% means fifteen fully correct. The OMPT-D survival guide explains why the calculus variant is the hard one. The A at 70% for Psychology and PPLE is the most drillable of the three: 52 quick questions, at most fifteen wrong, and the OMPT-A page has a four-week plan for exactly that target.
What UvA accepts instead of the OMPT
It depends on the maths level the programme requires. For the Mathematics A programmes (Business Administration, Economics and Business Economics): CCVX Mathematics A or the VWO State Exam at 6.0 (state exam registration by 31 December), James Boswell Mathematics A at 5.5, or the Korteweg-de Vries Institute's Mathematics A certificate; HBO-propedeuse holders in Applied Mathematics or Technical Physics are exempt. For the Mathematics B programmes (Business Analytics, Econometrics and Data Science, Actuarial Science): IB Mathematics HL or Analysis and Approaches HL at 4 (5 recommended), German Abitur Leistungsfach Mathematik, European Baccalaureate 5-period Mathematics, VWO Wiskunde B, or CCVX Mathematics B or the State Exam at 6.0; the certificate courses must be taken in the Netherlands.
Psychology accepts a VWO certificate in Mathematics A, B or C, or English-taught courses at the Korteweg-de Vries Institute or the James Boswell institute. PPLE accepts KdVI Mathematics A or B at grade 6, Boswell-Beta or CCVX Wiskunde A at 6, or an SAT maths section of 600, and exempts diploma maths obtained less than two years before the programme starts. That SAT line is PPLE-only; no other UvA programme lists the SAT or ACT.
UvA OMPT deadlines and how to submit the result
UvA's 2027-28 calendar has three tiers. Numerus fixus programmes close on 15 January 2027: Psychology (300 English-track places), and the English tracks of Business Administration (650 places) and Economics and Business Economics (850 places). PPLE closes on 1 February, with its entrance exam on 27 March and results before 11 May. Everyone else has an advisory deadline of 1 April for international prior education and a final deadline of 1 May, with EBE adding 1 March for non-EU scholarship applicants and 1 April for visa and housing.
The OMPT dates sit inside those. Psychology wants the OMPT-A or maths certificate by 1 April 2027, with the ranking published on 15 April. The OMPT-D programmes want the test taken before the application deadline, and you upload proof of registration or your result in the application; without a sufficient score the application is rejected. PPLE tells visa applicants to show they will meet the maths requirement before 1 May and to send results as instructed on its maths page. PPLE also states the only validity rule at UvA: scores must be obtained less than two years before the programme starts.
Tuition, and what to do if you fail the OMPT for UvA
Statutory tuition for 2026-27 is €2,694. Institutional fees are €13,900 at the Faculty of Economics and Business, €16,670 at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, and €19,100 for PPLE. The Dutch tracks of Business Administration and EBE have no selection procedure; the English tracks do.
On the one-attempt OMPT-F route, a fail means the OMPT is finished for that programme and the certificate courses are the remaining path: CCVX Mathematics A, the State Exam (registered by 31 December), James Boswell or KdVI. On the two-attempt OMPT-D route, read the per-topic breakdown, fix the named chapters, and rebook only if a timed mock clears 80% and the grading lands before the application deadline; if not, CCVX Mathematics B or the State Exam are the alternatives. Psychology and PPLE publish no cap, so the OMPT's own rules apply, but the 1 April and 1 May dates still bind. The retake guide covers the planning.
