Leiden University OMPT requirements: programmes, scores, deadlines
Leiden's Faculty of Science names the OMPT as a replacement exam for five bachelors: OMPT-D at 60% for Data Science & AI, Computer Science, Biology and Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences, OMPT-A at 60% for Science for Sustainable Societies. Only DSAI and SfSS are English-taught; the other three are Dutch-taught.
Leiden University names the OMPT as a replacement exam for five bachelors, all in the Faculty of Science, in its specific diploma requirements document for 2027-28. The arrangement is unusually uniform: OMPT-D at 60% for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Biology and Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences, and OMPT-A at the same 60% for Science for Sustainable Societies. Every row carries the same set of alternatives: Boswell-Beta exams at VWO level, VWO state exam certificates, or CCVX certificates. Biomedical Sciences and Medicine accept only the state exam and CCVX, not the OMPT.
Something worth knowing before you plan around the list: only two of the five are English-taught. Data Science and AI and Science for Sustainable Societies are English, three-year BSc programmes in Leiden. Computer Science (Informatica), Biology (Biologie) and Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences are taught in Dutch, and their own Dutch admission pages name Boswell-Beta, CCVX, the state exam and Wismon rather than the OMPT; the OMPT route for those three rests on the faculty PDF alone. If you are an international applicant, DSAI and SfSS are the realistic targets.
Leiden publishes no attempt cap, no validity period, no OMPT-specific deadline and no upload instruction; it tells you which subjects you are missing after you apply. So the practical rules are the application deadlines (1 April for non-EU applicants needing a visa, 1 May for EU applicants) and the test provider's own terms.

Why 60% on Leiden's OMPT-D is harder than the number suggests
Sixty percent on the D is a materially different task from 60% on the A, even though the number matches. The D runs 21 long-form questions over three hours across the widest syllabus of any variant, including geometry and integration; 60% means securing full credit on roughly thirteen of them, and the OMPT's all-or-nothing marking makes half-finished solutions worthless. If Science for Sustainable Societies is your programme, count yourself lucky: the A at 60% is one of the gentler asks on this list, 32 of 52 quick questions on a syllabus that stops at differentiation, and eight weeks of steady algebra-and-functions work gets most students there. What Leiden accepts instead of the OMPT
Three replacement exams sit next to the OMPT in the faculty PDF: Boswell-Beta exams at VWO level (the DSAI page names the Boswell VWO Mathematics B certificate specifically), VWO state exam certificates, and CCVX certificates. No numeric grade is printed for any of them. The SfSS page adds a vwo deelcertificaat in Mathematics A or B and notes that Boswell-Beta exams are available in English and Dutch.
At diploma level, the PDF's per-country sections settle whether you need a replacement exam at all. IB: Analysis and Approaches HL for DSAI and Computer Science (Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences currently also accepts SL, not preferred); AA SL/HL or Applications and Interpretation HL for Biology and SfSS. GCE: three A-levels at A to C, with Mathematics at A-level for DSAI and Computer Science, at AS or A-level for Biology, and for SfSS Mathematics AS or an additional maths exam if maths is not among the three. US: a 3.5 GPA with three APs at 4 to 5 or four at 3 to 5, including AP Calculus AB or BC for DSAI and Computer Science. SAT and ACT are not mentioned. Dutch applicants aged 21 or over have a colloquium doctum route with its own deadline of 15 October (DSAI) or 1 November (SfSS) of the year before.
Leiden OMPT deadlines and how to submit the certificate
None of the five OMPT programmes is numerus fixus, so the deadlines are the matching-programme dates: 1 April for non-EU/EEA applicants who need a visa or residence permit (and for permit holders who need an extension), and 1 May for EU applicants, both through Studielink and then Leiden's uSis system. Leiden's own words are that you receive information on any missing subjects after you submit your application, which means you may only learn that you need the OMPT once you are inside the process. My advice is to read the PDF's section for your diploma first and, if it points at a replacement exam, sit the OMPT before the deadline rather than after.
No OMPT-specific upload instruction is printed. Register at omptest.org with Leiden University selected, then upload the certificate in uSis with your other documents and confirm receipt with admissions. Because Leiden states no validity period for maths certificates (only English tests carry a two-year rule), treat the current cycle as the safe assumption.
Tuition, and what to do if you fail the OMPT for Leiden
Leiden already publishes 2027-28 tuition: statutory €2,771, and an institutional fee for non-EEA students of €19,200 at the Faculty of Science (most other faculties are €14,700). DSAI and SfSS are full-time, September-start BSc programmes in Leiden.
With no published cap, the test provider's rules apply (generally up to three attempts, each a fresh fee) and your application deadline is the constraint. If the first attempt misses, read the per-topic breakdown, fix the named chapters, and rebook when a timed mock clears 70% and the grading lands before 1 April or 1 May.
