KU Leuven OMPT requirements: programmes, scores, deadlines

OMPT-A, OMPT-D or OMPT-G for KU Leuven: read the letter before the number

The A is a 52-question, two-hour test that stops at differentiation; at 75% you can miss thirteen questions, and the margin comes from near-automatic algebra, not from the calculus at the end. The D is a three-hour paper of 21 long-form problems over the widest syllabus of any variant, geometry and integration included; 60% means fully finishing about thirteen of them with no partial credit. The G is 26 questions in three hours mixing maths with mechanics and chemistry. A student who prepared for the wrong letter has wasted weeks, so read your programme row before you open a single practice book.

My advice for the 75% business bar: treat it as an 85% target in practice, because KU Leuven's cutoff is among the higher ones in Belgium and exam-day slips are real. For the D and the G at 60%, the risk is format rather than level: train complete written solutions under the clock. What KU Leuven accepts instead of the OMPT

It depends on the programme, and the differences are sharper than a quick read suggests. Business Administration accepts SAT Math at 640, ACT Math at 27 or AP Calculus AB at grade 4 in place of the OMPT-A. Business Engineering lists only AP Calculus AB at grade 4; its page names no SAT or ACT route, so an American test score that covers the business degree does not cover the engineering one. Engineering Technology for 2026-27 accepts SAT Math 730 or ACT Math 32 alongside the OMPT-D, and for 2027-28 accepts nothing but the OMPT-G or its own July test.

Two extra obligations sit outside the proof itself. Flemish diploma holders applying to Business Engineering skip the formal proof but must sit the faculty's free online maths test and upload the result; the on-campus assessment in Brussels from 7 to 10 September is obligatory for admitted students, though failing it does not stop you starting. And KU Leuven's central eligibility page says that where a programme requires a SAT, ACT, AP or OMPT, applicants from Ivory Coast no longer need the Common Test, but the reverse substitution is not allowed.

KU Leuven OMPT deadlines and how to submit the certificate

All three programme-guide pages say the same thing in slightly different words: test results must be submitted by the application deadline at the latest, and Engineering Technology adds that late submissions cannot be accepted. The exact deadline for each English-taught bachelor is published only through KU Leuven's interactive application-window tool, which shows dates once you select a programme and your nationality, so look yours up there rather than relying on a general date. The generic apply page gives 1 February for non-EEA applicants to Dutch-taught programmes and notes that the English-taught bachelors set their own.

Submission is an upload. Everything requested goes into the online application file before the deadline, the OMPT certificate included, and non-EEA applicants pay an application fee through the international application web app. Register at omptest.org with KU Leuven selected so the result is linked to the right institution. Engineering Technology's 2026-27 tab states that test results are valid for a maximum of five years; the 2027-28 tab drops that sentence and the two business pages never had one, so treat the current cycle as the safe assumption and ask admissions before you rely on an older certificate.

One thing the two KU Leuven sources do not agree on. The programme guide says your official result must be available before the application deadline and that late submissions cannot be accepted. The application-window tool, for the same programme, gives 1 March as the non-EEA deadline and then adds that it expects test results by 1 May, with 1 August behind a 1 June deadline for EEA applicants. Plan to the earlier of the two dates and ask the Admissions Office which one governs, because one reading gives you two extra months and the other does not.

Tuition, and what to do if you fail the OMPT for KU Leuven

KU Leuven publishes four tuition tiers for 2026-27 per 60 credits (€1,181.40, €3,093.12, €5,613.12 and €9,493.92, each a fixed amount plus a per-credit rate) and assigns you to one by programme and nationality through its fee calculator. The three OMPT programmes are all 180 ECTS and taught in English; none has a numerus fixus.

KU Leuven publishes no attempt cap, so the OMPT's own rules apply (generally up to three attempts, each a fresh fee) and the application deadline is the constraint. If your first result is short, read the per-topic breakdown, fix the named chapters and rebook only when a timed mock clears your bar with margin.
