Kaunas University of Technology OMPT requirements: programmes, scores, deadlines

KTU sets an institution-level rule for holders of certain third-country qualifications: OMPT-A or D at 75%, taken by 1 April of the application year, uploaded to DreamApply before you submit, no more than two years old, and only two attempts counted.

Kaunas University of Technology sets one institution-level OMPT rule rather than a per-programme table: holders of certain third-country qualifications must present an OMPT at 75%, for undergraduate and postgraduate study alike. The academic-recognition page names OMPT-A and OMPT-D; the 2026 admission regulations, in the clauses for first-cycle and second-cycle admission, name the OMPT-A. That 75% matches the toughest bars anywhere in this table (Maastricht's business school, Utrecht, Nyenrode), and KTU pairs it with a hard calendar: the test must be taken no later than 1 April of the application year.

Which qualifications are caught is set out on KTU's recognition map. For bachelor's admission: the Higher Secondary Certificate from Bangladesh and Pakistan, the General Secondary Education Certificate from Jordan, the Higher Secondary Examination Certificate from Nepal, and Yemen's Secondary School Final Examination with a year of higher-education transcript. For master's admission: bachelor's degrees from Bangladesh (Honours), Jordan, Pakistan (four-year), Russia and Yemen. India, Nigeria, Ghana, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Kazakhstan and several others are assessed on their own national documents and do not sit the OMPT.

Three more rules come from the same page: the certificate must be uploaded to the DreamApply admissions system before the application is submitted, the result must be no more than two years old, and a maximum of two attempts may be made, with a third attempt's result not accepted. Doctoral applicants have their own version: OMPT-D at 75% by 4 September.

OMPT-A or OMPT-D for Kaunas University of Technology: the choice is not close

Given a free choice between the two letters at the same score, sit the A. Seventy-five percent on the A means surviving a fast 52-question paper on an algebra-through-differentiation syllabus, which is hard but drillable: at most thirteen wrong, with no partial credit, at under two and a half minutes a question. Seventy-five percent on the D means near-flawless work across 21 long-form problems in three hours spanning the widest syllabus of any variant, including geometry and integration; you can leave only about five problems incomplete. Nobody should volunteer for the second version when the first is accepted.

The regulations' own wording supports this: they name the OMPT-A for first- and second-cycle admission, with the D appearing alongside it only on the recognition page. If you are applying to an engineering or informatics programme and want to confirm the A is acceptable for it, one email to admissions settles it, but the published rule does not restrict you. Kaunas University of Technology OMPT deadlines and how to submit the certificate

The application window for 2026-27 ran from 15 October to 1 June, with a €100 non-refundable fee and studies starting 1 September. The OMPT deadline sits well inside that window: taken no later than 1 April of the current year. Because the certificate has to be in DreamApply before you submit the application, the test is in practice the first thing to finish, not the last. Working back from 1 April with about eight business days of grading and space for a retake, your first sitting belongs in January or February.

Submission is by upload: KTU says the resulting certificate must be uploaded to the DreamApply international student admissions system before the application is submitted, and the doctoral page adds that candidates cannot register without first including a copy of the OMPT-D certificate. The two-year validity window means an applicant who tests in autumn for the following year's intake is safely inside it; KTU is one of the few universities that states this figure at all.

What Kaunas University of Technology accepts instead of the OMPT

For the qualifications on the OMPT list, nothing. KTU's recognition map shows other countries using their own national exams as document requirements (SAT at 1100 or higher or the ACT for US applicants, YKS for Turkey), but those are the requirements for those countries, not substitutes an OMPT-listed applicant can offer instead. If you hold a strong IB or A-level maths grade alongside a listed qualification, ask admissions; the published rule does not mention it.

Programme facts from the admission pages: foreign citizens are admitted to state non-funded, full-time, English-taught programmes on the Kaunas campus. Bachelor's tuition for 2026-27 runs from €3,250 a year in business and public administration to €5,676 for Architecture; master's figures on the page (shown for 2025-26) are €4,690, €5,641 and €7,116 depending on field. What to do if you fail the OMPT for Kaunas University of Technology

Two attempts, and the third is explicitly not accepted, so the second one has to count. A first sitting in January leaves two months to fix the chapters named on your score report and sit again before 1 April; a first sitting in late March leaves nothing. At a 75% bar, the usual failure is not missing content but leaked points on routine algebra under time pressure, which is why my booking rule is a timed practice mock at 85% before either real attempt. If the second attempt also falls short, the two-year validity works in your favour for the next cycle: a pass in the autumn carries into the following year's application.
