Erasmus University College OMPT requirements: programmes, scores, deadlines

EUC accepts OMPT-A at 70% for its Liberal Arts and Sciences degree, with the score valid for two years. SAT and ACT feed only the average-grade requirement, and IB Applications and Interpretation SL triggers the test outright.

Erasmus University College, the liberal arts college of Erasmus University Rotterdam, keeps its maths requirement to a single line: 70% on OMPT-A for the BSc in Liberal Arts and Sciences, for anyone who does not meet the requirement through their diploma. The fine print is where applicants trip. EUC does look at SAT and ACT scores, an SAT of 1170 or an ACT composite of 27, but those feed only into the college's average-grade requirement. Neither replaces the OMPT-A maths requirement, a distinction that catches students who assume one strong American score covers everything.

The result is valid for two years, which EUC states explicitly and most universities do not: a score older than two years is no longer considered valid. That makes it one of the few places where testing a full year ahead of your application is clearly safe, useful if you want the maths requirement settled before your final school year gets busy.

EUC's page is unusually clear about who sits the test. VWO applicants need Wiskunde A at 7.0 or Wiskunde B at 6.0, and Wiskunde C is insufficient. IB applicants with Applications and Interpretation SL will need to take the OMPT-A. A-level applicants need Mathematics at grade B or the OMPT-A; US applicants need AP Calculus AB or BC at 3 or the OMPT-A; Dutch HBO-propedeuse applicants need the OMPT-A alongside an 8.0 average; and a long list of national diplomas simply reads 'minimum score of 70% for OMPT-A'.

What 70% on OMPT-A means for EUC applicants

Seventy percent on the A means at most fifteen wrong out of 52 questions, at under two and a half minutes each. The pace, not the content, is what fails prepared students; the syllabus stops at differentiation, but the routine algebra has to run on rails. Train with a timer from week one, and use the OMPT-A page for the chapter list, the four-week plan and a free timed mock. The common algebra mistakes note lists the errors that cost the most at this level.

EUC publishes no attempt cap, so the test provider's rules apply (generally up to three attempts, each a fresh fee), but the deadlines below leave little room for a casual first sitting. My booking rule for a 70% bar is 80% on a timed mock.

What Erasmus University College accepts instead of the OMPT

The diploma routes are the alternatives. Dutch VWO: Wiskunde A at 7.0 or B at 6.0, and EUC still encourages applications 0.5 under the line. IB, on a diploma of at least 30 points: Applications and Interpretation HL 5, Analysis and Approaches SL 5 or AA HL 4; predicted grades are not accepted. GCE: A-level Mathematics at B, within ABB across three A-levels and 9-5 in three GCSEs. US: AP Calculus AB or BC at 3, within a 3.0 GPA and four APs at 3. Everything else on the national list points at the OMPT-A.

SAT and ACT have a defined and limited role: SAT 1170 or ACT composite 27 can supplement the average-grade requirement, and EUC states that neither can supplement the OMPT-A or an English test. CCVX, Boswell-Beta and KdVI are not mentioned on the EUC page at all, so ask admissions before relying on one; the OMPT-A is the route EUC names.

EUC OMPT deadlines and how to submit the result

Applications for 2027-28 open on 1 October 2026. The regular deadline is 15 January 2027 at 23:59 CET, with a decision by mid-February and first access to LUCIA housing; the final deadline is 1 May 2027. There is no EU/non-EU split. EUC publishes no separate OMPT date, but its HBO-applicant list names 'your OMPT-A result' among the documents to submit, so plan to have the certificate in the portal by the deadline you are applying under: a sitting in December for the January round, or in April for the May round.

Submission runs through Studielink and then the EUR Admissions Portal, where you upload the certificate with your motivation letter; non-Dutch diplomas pay a €100 application fee, and the process includes an online interview with the EUC Admissions Board. Register at omptest.org with Erasmus University Rotterdam selected. EUC also says its listed scores do not automatically qualify you for admission; the board reads the whole file.

Tuition, and what to do if you fail the OMPT for EUC

EUC's indicative 2027-28 tuition is €6,000 for EU/EEA students and €17,800 for non-EU/EEA students, subject to change; the EUR fee table for 2026-27 shows €5,800 increased statutory and €16,300 institutional. The programme is English-taught, 180 EC, three years, September start, with around 217 first-years on the Rotterdam city campus.

With no published cap and a two-year validity window, a failed first attempt is recoverable if the calendar allows: read the per-topic breakdown, fix the named chapters, and rebook when a timed mock clears 80% and the grading lands before your deadline. If the January round has passed, the 1 May final deadline is still open. If both rounds have passed, the two-year validity means a pass this year carries into next year's application.   • Dutch VWO

    Wiskunde A at 7.0 or Wiskunde B at 6.0. Wiskunde C is insufficient. EUC still encourages applications 0.5 under the line.

  • IB Mathematics
