Arcada University of Applied Sciences OMPT requirements: programmes, scores, deadlines

Arcada gives each of its three separate-application bachelors its own variant, all at 50%, the lowest published bar on this list, with three attempts allowed. The score must be verifiable in the OMPT database by 26 April 2027, and OMPT applicants get €240 off first-year tuition.

Arcada University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki publishes the lowest OMPT bar in this entire table: 50%, across all three of its separate-application bachelors. Each programme has its own variant. International Business (55 places for 2027) takes OMPT-A; Information Technology (28 places) takes OMPT-B; Mechanical and Sustainable Engineering (17 places) takes OMPT-G. Arcada allows three attempts to reach the 50% on one of the tests, and every applicant who clears the score, the English requirement and the eligibility rules is offered admission while places remain.

The mechanics are stricter than the number. You cannot submit the Studyinfo application without attaching a copy of your OMPT result, so the test comes first. When you register at omptest.org you should also order your score to be shared with Arcada in the OMPT database, because Arcada verifies every result there and scores that cannot be verified by 26 April 2027 are not considered. The separate application itself runs from 30 October 2026 at 9 a.m. (UTC+2) to 19 April 2027 at 3 p.m. (UTC+3), and may close earlier if the places fill.

Two things to have alongside the OMPT: a separate English proof (IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 67, PTE 51, Cambridge 169 or Oxford ELLT 6.0; SAT EBRW 480 or ACT ELA 22 also count; Duolingo does not), and the €100 application fee for non-EU applicants. Fee-paying students admitted through the OMPT get €240 off first-year tuition, once, regardless of how many attempts they used.

Why 50% on the OMPT is not the same on all three Arcada variants

Half marks sounds trivially easy. It is not quite, and the reason is the variant assignment. International Business sits the A, whose syllabus stops at differentiation and where 50% is 26 of 52 quick questions; a student with school algebra gets there in a few weeks. Information Technology sits the B, which adds trigonometry and integration across 64 questions in 150 minutes. Mechanical and Sustainable Engineering sits the G, which adds physics mechanics and chemistry to its maths chapters in a 26-question, three-hour paper. A student whose school track skipped those subjects can stumble at 50% on content they have never met, while finding the algebra-only A comfortable.

Match your preparation to your programme's letter, not to the reassuring number. What Arcada accepts instead of the OMPT

Arcada's separate application has three other doors. The SAT: for International Business, EBRW 480, Math 500 and total 980; for IT and Mechanical, EBRW 480, Math 530 and total 1010 (post-March-2016 test, code 7151, and a €100 tuition deduction instead of the OMPT's €240). The ACT: English 22 (or other English proof), Math 18, composite 19, code 8372. And a certificate route for applicants from Estonia, Germany, India, Latvia, Morocco, Poland, South Africa, Thailand, Türkiye and Vietnam, who can apply on school grades with country thresholds (India CBSE or CISCE maths or economics at 60%; Türkiye maths 70% or 4/5; Vietnam maths and English 7.5, for example).

Applicants with a Finnish matriculation examination, or an IB, EB or RP diploma taken in Finland, use the joint application from 7 to 21 January 2027 instead. A-level and AP maths are not listed on Arcada's pages, so do not assume they substitute; ask admissions.

Arcada OMPT deadlines and how the result is verified

The dates for the autumn 2027 intake are all published: separate application open from 30 October 2026 to 19 April 2027 (or until full), OMPT score verifiable in the database by 26 April 2027, offer accepted with registration and payment by 13 July 2027 at 3 p.m., and a €1,500 early-bird discount if you pay within 14 days of the offer. With about eight business days of standard grading, the last safe OMPT sitting is early April, and the last sensible one is March if you want a second or third attempt in reserve.

Submission has two halves. First, attach a copy of your OMPT result to the Studyinfo application; the form will not submit without it. Second, make sure the score is shared with Arcada in the OMPT database, which you set up when registering for the test, because Arcada's admission decision rests on the verifiable database record rather than on the PDF alone. If you sat the test before choosing Arcada, log back in to your OMPT account and share the result before the 26 April cut-off.

Tuition, and what to do if you fail the OMPT for Arcada

Tuition for studies starting in 2026 or later is €9,800 a year on all three programmes (210 ECTS over 3.5 years for International Business; 240 ECTS over four years for the two engineering degrees), taught in English on campus in Helsinki. Deductions: €1,500 early-bird, €240 for OMPT applicants, €100 for SAT applicants. There are no first-year scholarships; the €1,500 Arcada Award is available from year two. Non-EU applicants pay a €100 application fee.

Three attempts before applying is the most generous retake policy in this table, and it removes most of the booking anxiety other universities create. Even so, each sitting costs real money: sit a free practice mock first, fix what it exposes, and aim to need only one paid attempt. If the third attempt also misses 50%, the SAT and ACT routes remain open in the same application window, and the certificate route may cover you if your school is in one of the ten listed countries.
