NHH Norwegian School of Economics OMPT requirements: programmes, scores, deadlines
NHH accepts OMPT-F at 60% for its Bachelor in Business, Economics and Data Science, two attempts, valid two years, uploaded to Søknadsweb by 15 February. It is the only listed maths route for applicants from many non-EU countries, including the United States.
NHH Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen accepts OMPT-F at 60% for its English-taught Bachelor in Business, Economics and Data Science, and for applicants from a long list of countries it is the only maths route NHH names. The rule is built around Norwegian upper-secondary maths: NHH compares every foreign diploma to Mathematics R1 or S1 plus S2, and where your country's entry in its 120-country list carries no school subject NHH treats as equivalent, the OMPT-F fills the gap. That includes the United States, where an SAT or ACT maths section is not listed as an alternative at all.
The score requirement is moderate; the calendar is the real constraint. Non-EU applicants apply between 1 and 15 November 2026 for the August 2027 start and must already hold their diploma. Both application rounds share one OMPT deadline: the certificate must be uploaded in Søknadsweb by 15 February 2027. Standard OMPT grading takes about eight business days (NHH itself quotes up to five working days), so the last safe sitting is late January, and with a retake in reserve the first attempt belongs before the year ends.
NHH allows two attempts, a third is not accepted, and the result must be no more than two years old at the deadline. Passing meets the maths requirement but does not guarantee a place. The programme is 180 ECTS over three years, and graduates have guaranteed admission to an NHH master's.

Who has to sit the OMPT-F for NHH
NHH's admission-requirements page lists diploma requirements country by country. Where the entry names a school maths subject (IB Mathematics on any of the four courses from 2021 onwards, UK A-level or AS Mathematics, Scottish Higher or Advanced Higher Mathematics, and so on), a passing result in that subject covers the requirement and the OMPT is optional. Where the entry names none, as for many non-EU countries from Afghanistan and Argentina to the USA, the OMPT-F is the only listed proof of maths. Applicants with Norwegian generell studiekompetanse apply through Samordna Opptak instead, and the OMPT is not part of that route.
Find your country in the list before you book anything. If your diploma already qualifies, the €270 test fee is money you do not need to spend; if it does not, you know now rather than in February. When you register at omptest.org, select NHH Norwegian School of Economics and then the programme Business Economics and Data Science (NHH), so the result is linked to the right institution.
Why the OMPT-F is harder than its 60% suggests
The F is an underestimated test. It covers OMPT-A territory (algebra, equations, functions, exponentials and logarithms, differentiation) with no trigonometry and no integration, but delivers it as 21 extended problems in three hours instead of 52 quick questions. Students who prepared on rapid-fire drills find the format alien: each question is a small project, the answer is all or nothing, and an abandoned problem costs nearly five percent of the paper. Sixty percent means fully finishing about thirteen of the 21.
Practise full written solutions under the clock, not answer-spotting. The OMPT-F page has the format, the syllabus and a free timed mock; the E, F and G explainer covers what makes the long-form papers different. My booking rule for NHH is a timed mock at 70% or better before the real sitting, because with two attempts and a fixed February deadline, the first attempt has to be a serious one.
NHH OMPT deadlines and how to submit the certificate
Two application windows, one OMPT date. Non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals apply from 1 to 15 November 2026 (23:59 CET) with all academic documents, and there is no conditional admission on a diploma still to come. EU/EEA/Swiss nationals apply from 1 January to 15 February 2027, with predicted grades by 15 February and the final diploma by 6 July 2027. In both rounds the OMPT-F certificate is due by 15 February 2027. Non-EU decisions normally arrive in the first weeks of February, except for applicants still submitting an OMPT-F result, who may hear in April.
Submission is an upload: once you have the digital certificate, attach it as a PDF in Søknadsweb with the file code ompt.pdf. NHH's documentation page is explicit that the certificate must be uploaded before the 15 February deadline, and that incomplete applications are not evaluated. The exam fee is not covered by NHH.
Tuition, and what to do if you fail the OMPT-F for NHH
EU/EEA and Swiss students pay no tuition, only a semester fee of about NOK 910. Non-EU students in the 2026-27 cohort pay NOK 142,000 a year, fixed for the nominal three years; the 2027-28 figure is expected in the first quarter of 2027. Non-EU applicants also need to show the UDI funding amount for a residence permit (NOK 308,859 for the first bachelor year at last check). None of this changes the maths rule, but it belongs in the same spreadsheet as the test fee.
If your first attempt falls short, you have exactly one more, and the deadline decides whether it is usable. A first sitting in November leaves time to read the per-topic breakdown, fix the named chapters and sit again in January; a first sitting in early February leaves nothing. If both miss, NHH withdraws or does not make an offer, and the two-year validity means a pass in the following autumn carries into the next cycle.
